Please Be Respectful to Our Staff

Our staff are here to provide support, advice and services to our residents and communities. Everyone has the right to carry out their role in a safe, respectful and professional environment.

Lately, we have seen more reports of abusive, threatening and unacceptable behaviour towards staff. We want to be clear that we will not tolerate abuse, threats, intimidation or violence towards any member of our team.

We understand that there may be times when residents feel frustrated or concerned, and our staff will always listen, explain and help wherever possible. However, being upset or frustrated is never an excuse for abusive or threatening behaviour.

Any incidents of this behaviour will be taken seriously and may lead to action being taken. This could include recording and investigating what happened and, sometimes, limiting how a person can contact us.

We ask everyone who interacts with our staff to treat them with respect. We are here to help, and our staff deserve to feel safe while doing their job.

Black text reads: Southend is a place where everyone feels at home—safe, supported, healthy and connected. Our strong communities come together to create a city filled with trust, kindness, and opportunity, where every child has the chance to shine, and everyone irrespective of background or origin can enjoy a life of wellbeing. Safe and Thriving Communities is written on a yellow background.
