Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan
Would you hear the alarm? If your flat is affected by fire or smoke, it is time to evacuate. It is not safe to use the lift because it will be isolated (turned off) by the fire brigade. Can you manage the stairs? If there is any health condition that would affect your ability to leave the building in an emergency, we can help. Our Fire Safety Manager can visit to go through a person-centred fire risk assessment (PCFRA) with you and produce your Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP).
For residents living in flats, particularly in high-rise tower blocks, it's crucial to let us know if you would require assistance during an evacuation. This information helps us work with emergency services to prepare and respond effectively, prioritising your safety.
The PCFRA will identify what needs to be done to reduce the risk of you having a fire and also that if you do have one, you are alerted to it and that the emergency services are called as soon as possible. The PEEP will set out how to evacuate. The PEEP can be securely shared with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service so that they know who in the block might need their assistance and for what reasons. Your details will be securely stored and only shared with emergency services when necessary.
If you think a PCFRA would help you to manage fire safety in your home, please complete the web form linked below and our Fire Safety Manager will contact you. Your proactive steps could make all the difference in keeping everyone safe.
