Building Safety Competition Winners Celebrated
In our Spring issue of Insight, we introduced our Building Safety Competition and shared how our judging panel selected the winners. We’re delighted to now reveal the winning entries and celebrate the children behind them!
Congratulations to Lola, Marlo, and Zaeem for winning the poster competition with their strong and emotive creations. And congratulations to Lacey, who won the hazard spotting competition by correctly spotting EVERY hazard!
For those who played along at home, the 15 hidden hazards were…
- Broken stair bannister
- Mould around the window
- Football on the stairs
- Broken window
- Low hanging blind cord
- Broken smoke detector
- Broken door closer
- Pile of boxes at the bottom of the stairs
- Lit cigarette in the bin
- Overflowing bin
- Water on the floor
- Mirror not secured to the wall
- Trailing electrical cord
- Candle near flowing curtain
- Chemicals not locked away

Our winners were invited to a special presentation event at the Civic Centre, where they received their prizes from the new Deputy Mayor, Cllr Anne Jones, surrounded by their proud families. It was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the creativity and effort that went into every winning design.
The winning posters are now on display across our tower blocks, helping to remind residents of the importance of building safety in a fun and engaging way.
A huge thank you once again to everyone who took part, and to our competition sponsor, Blake Fire and Security Systems, for supporting this fantastic initiative.
