Sheltered Housing Gardening Update
A message from Tony Holliday, Estate Services Manager
Following some delays in our gardening service I would like to update residents and assure you that we are doing all we can to bring the gardening back up to the level B standard that we aim to consistently meet.
I would like to explain to you the challenges we have been facing. During the spring months, the torrential rainfall was confirmed by the met office to be the wettest spring on record in forty years. This in turn made it extremely challenging to complete the initial seasonal grass cutting, which caused significant delays. Of course, the accelerated grass growth compounded this situation further.
Following the spring wet spell, the current very warm weather has further accelerated unprecedented growth with some grass areas growing up to 12 inches in a week! Once again slowing down the pace of grass cutting with a knock-on effect to the programme.
We are working hard to fix this, and this week will start to increase our resources and equipment temporarily to allow the team to catch up and get back to the usual approximate two-week programme as soon as we possibly can.
Please bear with us during this challenging time and be assured that we are doing our very best to fix this challenging situation.
